Project Gratitude: Day 12

I am simply thankful for a great day.

Eric had the day off for Veterans Day today. The girls did not. That meant that while the boys napped in the afternoon, I got Eric all to myself! We really did have a great day.

We took the girls to school this morning so we could be there for a little awards presentation for Jolie.  (Mierae's was last week but they didn't send home a notice for us...we all felt so bad about that!) We went straight from the school to the shopping area of town and spent two hours browsing Target, buying new shoes, and picking out a bench for our dining table. The boys were so good, and we had fun.

Eric went back to the school on the way home from the shops so he could eat lunch with both the girls at their different lunch times. I knew the girls would be ecstatic about it, and of course they were. I thought it was so sweet that Eric chose to do that on his day off. When he came home, he fixed things around the house and washed dishes. He picked up the girls from the bus stop and helped me with dinner. And when I thought I had burned the dinner and ruined it, he consoled me and said it was still going to be great.

We had a great FHE tonight. Mierae practiced giving us her talk for Primary. It so happens that I have to speak in Sacrament meeting this Sunday as well, but my talk wasn't ready to practice yet! We sang songs and read scriptures, shared our testimonies, and had the great delight of hearing Henrik recite the first Article of Faith after prompts from Eric. The kids laughed and laughed as they watched the video Eric took of it.

We finished off FHE with brownies and ice cream--a sure way to make any day great!

After Eric tucked the girls in bed, I sat in their room nursing Oliver while I told them stories of our first two Thanksgivings after moving to Ohio. Once the girls were sufficiently drowsy :) I slipped out of their room and joined Eric in the kitchen. We watched old episodes of "Bewitched" while Eric washed dishes and I finished feeding Ollie.

Yes, it was a great day. I am so thankful for days like this.
