1 Down, 1 to Go

First of all, thanks to all for the sympathy and kind words in regards to my children's sleep issues. I know every mom knows what it's like, so I'm sorry to have whined about it. But, I just want to report some good news: Mierae slept for almost 12 straight hours last night! HALLELUJAH!!! When we were at our wit's end last week when Mierae finally conked at quarter to 2:00, we knew we could NOT do it any more. The next day when Mierae got drowsy around 5:00 pm and whined that she wanted a nap, I did what any sleep-deprived mom would do: "Do you want to watch 'The Incredibles?!'" Mierae's eyes brightened up and she jumped up and down saying, "Yeah!" So I turned 'er on and let her watch the WHOLE thing, including all the previews at the beginning. I had to leave the room for a few minutes and came back to her lying down on the couch with a blanket. Uh oh. "Why don't you sit up to watch the show?" I casually ask. I interjected this and that during the first part of the movie to make sure she got over the hump, and then she did fine. I went to card club that night, so Eric put her to bed. He said she fell asleep at 8:00, and she was out a second after he lifted her from the couch after reading stories. She slept until 5:00 am when she wanted something to eat, and went back to sleep until 8:00 am. WOW. I guess she is finally old enough to do it. Trying this method months ago just backfired. So, this last week she's had some short naps on a couple of days and gone to bed a little later, but always by 10:30. Jolie's schedule is getting better too--with going to bed at night anyway. She's still up in the night. Last night it was 4 times. But, if Mierae is thriving now, and we have a couple of hours of peace to ourselves at night, I can handle some night feedings when my baby goes right back to sleep. Eric and I can't believe the difference. It is glorious. Now if only my baby wasn't sleeping in my bedroom where all my projects are....

Yeah!!! Congratulations. You can complain about lack of sleep all you want. I hope she keeps up this new schedule.
