A Grand Day Out

It's Mierae's 5th birthday on Monday, so I was reflecting on what we've done for her last birthdays. When she turned 3, we planned an overnight trip to CocoKey Waterpark in Newark. It was so much fun, we knew we had to go back. But a year went by, and then several more months before we finally got the chance to go back. Last month we spent a Saturday at the indoor waterpark again, and it was probably even more fun than the first time.

Mierae LOVED going down ALL of the slides she could, and her energy never waned. We left after a few hours to go have a picnic lunch, and we were right back inside enjoying the water again. Jolie on the other hand didn't want to go down a single slide. We couldn't convince her to try even once, the whole day. But she enjoyed throwing balls, sitting in the hot tub, floating on the lazy river, and splashing in the kiddie pool. Eric and I made sure we each got the chance to sneak away and go down the big tube slides.

We had a pizza dinner there at the park, and made sure to stop for dessert on the way home.

It was a really fun day. We knew the kids would be out as soon as we hit the road.

What we didn't expect was that Mierae would wake up when we got home and stay awake for another two hours! Sigh. Things have been going better there, thankfully. Only two more days until she's five.... The change will be like magic, right?! :)

Oh I just LOVE sleeping in the car pictures. The leg, the arm, the head... all of it!
You guys are such great parents, even I wouldn't want to go to bed knowing you were up still having fun. No wonder Mierae stays up so long...
Hopefully 5 IS the magic number. I feel like since Cloey turned 5 she wants to stay up even later... what do ya do?!
