I was introduced to BNL's song "Who Needs Sleep?" by my sister Charlotte a long time ago. I'm not sure what album it's on, but I can still hear Charlotte singing the words...."Who needs sleep? No, you're never gonna get it. Who needs sleep? What's that for?....haven't slept since the second world war..." Anyway, I obviously left out some key lyrics, but that's all I remember, and it plays in my mind almost every night. You see, most people know what bad sleepers our kids are. Well, Mierae is worse than Jolie, but Jolie is putting up her fight to win 1st place.
So, the kids slept poorly over Christmas--that was to be expected. But, when we got home, things got worse than they've ever been. Our first night in Virginia Mierae wouldn't go to bed until 1:15 am, mostly because she took a second nap in the car around 6:00 pm on our drive there. Well, our first night back, Mierae wouldn't go to bed until after midnight. And it only went downhill from there. Two or three nights in a row she wasn't going to sleep until 1:30 am. And, of course, she goes to bed so late that she sleeps in in the morning, and we're so tired from staying up with her that we are too tired to get her up in the morning. And the cycle continues. She did better for a couple of days, and we thought we were on the up-side. But yesterday, even with an early nap, she still wouldn't go to bed until after midnight. And today she had a 20-minute nap and still wouldn't go to bed until 11:30 pm!! We just don't get it.
Jolie is still waking up twice a night too--nursing every 3-4 hours still. The other night Mierae had finally fallen asleep at 12:30 am, so I went to brush my teeth, and Jolie started crying. I nursed her and put her back to bed, only to wake up at 2:30 to Jolie crying again. I knew she wasn't hungry, so I let her cry for a while before going in to soothe her. She fell asleep in my arms, but woke up again as soon as I put her back in her crib. So, she cried again until Eric went to soothe her. Then, she just wanted to be awake. So, finally at 4:00 am she got tired and went back to bed. Then at 6:30 Mierae woke up and said she was hungry. She and I both fell asleep again on the couch just before 8:00, and then Eric came out and got us up a half hour later. I know other people probably have it worse than me, but, man, it would sure be nice to get a good night's sleep one of these days....
And I'm only writing this blog right now because Jolie wouldn't take her "afternoon" nap until almost 7:00 pm. So, it's after 1:00 am and she's still awake. And that means we are too.
Who needs sleep? No, we're never gonna get it.

Oh, that's miserable. Getting sleep is so important to being a happy mom! I hope things get better for you!
I can't believe it's getting that bad!! will jolie take a bottle? if so, you should let the girls spend the night at my house one night. either that, or you and eric can come one at a time and sleep over(i'm serious). you need some sleep!!
**Hugs!** I'm sorry you never get to sleep! I remember those days very well, and it's not easy. It will get better, I promise. Someday you'll have sleeping beauties and get lots of sleep, hopefully that's not too far into the future!
Oh dear! You poor thing!
