Just an early-morning visit from the fire department!
When we were all getting into the van and almost ready to drive away to church, the last child to leave the house decided to lock the door on her way out....which is fine, if the keys are already in the car...but they weren't! Eric was just on his way back in the house to grab the keys when we got locked out. Thankfully my phone was in the van already. We tried to call a locksmith, but of course none of them were working at 8:00 am on a Sunday morning. So I called the police station. They took down our info and said this fell into the fire department's duties.
The bright red truck showed up minutes later, and after about .03 seconds, the door was unlocked, and one fireman was teaching Eric how to do it on his own, while the other two firemen took the kids over to the truck and let them sit inside. (For some reason the photos with the other kids were way overexposed.) :(
Of course we were late for church, but it made for a pretty exciting morning. :) We had some friends over for dinner later and had a great time playing, visiting, eating, and laughing. I love Sundays.
