Henrik Turns 3, aka It's Been Almost A Year of Awful Sleep!

When I was expecting Henrik and found out he was due the first week of December, I wanted so badly to have him as close to the first of December as possible! I knew how busy the month would be and wanted to be sure every year he got a genuine birthday celebration.

This year his birthday revolved around his cake.

We invited a few of his friends from church to come over for cake and ice cream. It is always so fun to have a house full of people on a birthday! The kids were great watching Henrik open his gifts. Henrik oohed and ahhed over everything just right, and the kids were so sweet about it.

The last gift was one to match his cake--his own remote controlled dump truck! I got it on video, so I don't have any still photos of him opening it, but I am happy to say that it was a hit. :)

Earlier in the day we went to a few stores, where the boys shopped 'til they dropped!

Then we went to McDonalds to eat and play, and Daddy met up with us from work. We came home with things for his party and a few little gifts.

The boys went together to get check-ups at the doctor the next week, and Henrik was as suave and pleasant as could be when the doctor did his exam.

Henrik continues to be a happy, easy-going kid. He is a great shopping buddy and such a fun play partner. He loves his younger brother (unless Ollie gets into Henri's toys!) and he is so happy when the girls get home from school every day. He is loving books and has his favorites--The Backyardigans, If You Give A Mouse A Cookie series, and anything about cars, trucks, planes, etc. He is already a great athlete, and he and Ollie always fight over all the balls in the house. :)

And the best news yet--the horrible sleeping woes of this past year seem to be over. Hooray! Henrik is able to stay awake all day and goes to bed at night. And on the rare occasion when he naps, he seems to still be going to bed well. This is great news for our family!!

Happy Birthday, Henri! You are such a joy!
