A little while ago I was talking to a friend who bought a house this past summer just like we did. We were reviewing our summer and lamenting how short it seemed and how it was mostly consumed by buying a house, moving, and trying to get settled. I was glad that our move took place early in the summer, but I didn't feel like we settled in very quickly. (I kept looking for furniture, ached to get painting done, debated about where to put things, etc.) I was glad that before the summer ended we were able to put the girls in swimming lessons for two straight weeks. After that, it was time to prepare to go back to school.
I took all four kids with me to the store one day to get the girls' school supplies. It wasn't the ideal setting for mom-daughter bonding, but the girls enjoyed crossing things off their lists, and it actually got them excited for school.
We enjoyed their back to school night, getting a peek at their classrooms, and meeting their great teachers. We really feel like their teachers are well-suited to their personalities.
But the best part of going back to school is that we now have great friends who live close and Mierae gets to ride the bus with her best friend. (It's a relief, too, since they didn't end up being in the same class. Oh, there were many tears shed the afternoon we stopped at the school to see the posted class lists!)
I'm late in posting, but here they are at the beginning of 3rd and 1st grades!
It's crazy to see how much older my girls are getting! This year we've had to actually go out and buy most of Mierae's wardrobe--not many more hand-me-downs in her size! It's really fun to see what the girls' tastes in clothes are. Our shopping experiences have been eye-opening. This part of their getting older is fun, but also not so fun.) :)
