Returning home from our 2-month trip to Utah this summer reminded me of returning home from Utah 7 years ago: I was 7 months pregnant with Mierae and had stayed with my family for two weeks. On the plane on the way back to Columbus, I cried. I knew I was returning to my husband, who actually almost seemed like a stranger when he met me at the airport, but I was mourning for the comfort of my familiar home and the ease of being with my family again. As our summer trip this year ended, I couldn’t help but feel the same loss as we headed east, away from the familiarity of our childhood home and the love and comfort of our families.
We had a great summer. It was a little crazy with so many families staying in the same house all summer long, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way. We were all in and out so often, and had lots to do at home or away. The kids loved having their cousins around to play with, and we got to do so many fun things: we visited 6 state and national parks; we celebrated Mierae’s 7th birthday; Mierae lost her third tooth; we went to several different museums for free with our Columbus COSI pass; we spent time with old friends; we saw almost every single member of both of our families; and we hit the 200,000 mile mark on our Honda Odyssey on the way home!
It’s definitely already been a summer to remember, and we still have our move in a week and a baby to come in a week and a half to top it all off! I’ll try to get in all the highlights as the week goes on.

I can't believe you are moving half a week before you're having your baby! I wish I could be there to help...
I'm so excited to find out if you are having a boy or a girl!
Oh wow! I can't believe you are ready to deliver already. I swear I just found out you were expecting.
I'm so glad you had such a great summer. We went to Utah for about 3 days for a funeral and after that drive I'm determined to stay in Utah next summer for 3 weeks and have Tyler fly back to Texas for work and then come back to Utah to help me drive home. Good luck with the move and baby. I can't wait to hear how everything goes. :)
Glad you're blogging again-love your big family photo! Sounds like a great summer... and I know the feeling. We just drove thru Ohio on our move to Indiana-tell me where you're moving again? Good luck on the baby.
I soooooo want to go to Utah! You all look gorgeous and happy. You have a busy two weeks ahead -- I will check in for updates. Can't wait to hear what cool name you choose for the baby.
Peaceful travels,
Kate
