Mierae's 7th Birthday

Because Mierae's birthday is in the summer, she has often spent it away from home.  Even though she didn't have a party with friends, she sure enjoyed some celebrating with lots and lots of family and fun. After spending her actual day in Canyonlands National Park, we did some more partying back "home."  Mierae's activity of choice for her birthday this year was bowling.  We tried to include as many people as we could that we knew would enjoy it, and spent some fun time at Fat Cats.  It was fun seeing my parents bowl with the rest of us, and even Henrik got in a few rounds.

Since we didn't get many of the Taylors in on celebrating, we made sure to at least do cake with them.  Grandma has the red "You Are Special Today" plate that Mierae has been able to use on her birthday in years past, and her cake was served on that plate this year.

We finished everything off with another get-together.  My sister's in-laws let us gather at their cabin at Sundance.  The kids played basketball and tennis, played on the playground, and roasted hot dogs.

I think Mierae is so lucky to have a summer birthday that she has been able to spend with family on several occasions. It's hard for her to not celebrate with her school friends since her birthday isn't during the school year, but we try to make up for it.
