September 22, 2011
I realized at about 2:00 this afternoon that I hadn't eaten lunch. Then I realized that for breakfast I had a donut, and as a snack when I got home in the afternoon, I had two Rice Krispies treats. Yikes! Fitting that I'm sitting at the computer watching "Super Size Me" on hulu. :) It's been kind of a crazy day. I picked up Jolie from preschool and went straight to Aldi since Henrik didn't need to nap immediately. We didn't go grocery shopping last week, so it was definitely time to pick up some fresh fruit and veggies! After we shopped, I got out to the van, put the food in bags, buckled up the kids, and tried to start the van: it was dead. It didn't turn over at all. I was having flashbacks of the time in March when I accidentally locked Jolie and Henrik in the van at the bank. This time I was much more calm. I called Eric, called AAA, and then waited for the technician to come. I changed Henri, then fed him, and the guy came. He jump-started the battery and got the diagnostic on it: out of a measure of 750, the van battery was at a 7. Yep, dead. On the way home the dash dials were going crazy and I was afraid the van might die on me again, but we made it home. We left the van running while Eric ordered the battery online, then he took off to pick it up and get it installed. Oh, what am I going to do when Eric isn't readily available anymore? While he was gone, I put Henri down for his nap, and then the Varment Guard guy came, about an hour earlier than I thought. He was super nice--it ended up being the same guy that did the heat treatment at the beginning of August. He was totally baffled that we saw another bed bug. No one really has any explanation for how they could have come back/not left. Jolie was trying to be helpful to me by putting things away that were in my room. But she put them away in her room...where Henrik was asleep. So, Henrik woke up and needed to eat, right when the guy finished up and came downstairs. Of course. The guy waited for me on the other side of the living room behind the bookshelf so he could talk to me before he left. We just hope this is the real end of the bugs. Eric came home right after that and had to take off again to help Chris Purdie move a washer and dryer or something. He took Jolie with him, bless his soul. I picked up Mierae and Leah from the bus, and we hung out at home until Eric and Jolie got back. Eric made dinner (broccoli beef) that no one happened to eat before leaving for soccer. Then I got an evening to myself. Henrik was napping again, and I sat back to watch a show while I ate my dinner. Once Eric and the kids got back, I finally got something done: folded three loads of laundry and started another one, picked up the house somewhat, and got the kids to bed. Man, why is it that on nights when the kids should go to bed early, they go to bed even later?!
