Since my last post was very whiny, I'll try to keep it all news and facts this time. Since the beginning of August, this little boy turned eight months.
He was tested and officially diagnosed with urine reflux. He'll be on a daily antibiotic until he gets sick and has to have surgery, or he stays healthy and grows out of it. Guess which one I'm hoping for?
My blessed sister hosted us while the bed bugs were treated. It's so nice having family close again, and the girls are loving the cousin time.
Our family also took a trip to Utah. And, I have to add, we had wonderful flights to and from!
The day after we arrived, Mierae and Henrik were throwing up. As soon as they got better, my sister got sick. Then my other sister's nieces got sick, followed by my mom, my brother-in-law, Eric, my Dad, and my niece. So finally half-way into our "vacation," we were able to get away and stay at a cabin in the mountains for a weekend. I'm so glad we planned that outing so we actually did something fun and relaxing. My camera was dying, as all of mine seem to, so most pics are on everyone else's cameras.
We did squeeze in a couple other things, among them a celebration of our eight years of marriage. We finally saw "Harry Potter," thanks to my wonderful sisters who watched the kids (and endured Henri's crying for half the time we were gone).
We got home from our trip just in time for this girl to start 1st grade (on time, even though we woke up late and she missed the bus).
She was, of course, so nervous and not looking forward to going back to school at all. After all, "All we do in school is work, work, work!" And her best friend wasn't going to be in her class. But she came home all smiles saying how much FUN 1st grade is. We knew it would happen, but it was sure nice to hear it come out of her own mouth.
Now that school is back in session, I have to admit that I can sympathize with Mierae's desire to be home and play all day. I miss her. And I am glad we had a fairly low-key and lazy summer (except for most of July, you know). We're looking forward to more good times ahead.

glad you guys are back... and now we're leaving (saturday) for a month, so we really didn't get to welcome you home much. But just wanted to say that Mierae looks sooo grown up in that pic!
I love Henrik's face in the picture at Thanksgiving Point.
I'm so glad you guys ended up coming this summer! It was so fun.
Dallin had something like that (I actually think it was kidney reflux, Kurt would know for sure) when he was born and grew out of it. Yeah!! We prayed that he wouldn't have to have the surgery.... I had a hard time with the anitboitics. After a long time of taking them I finally just took him off. He was fine. I think it made his permanent teeth dark. (dr. val speaking there!?!)
So great to catch up on your blog Robyn! It sounds terrible, but sometimes it's nice to see that you're not the only one having a rough time. So sad to go through all that with your baby, I hope he grows out of it really soon! Sorry we missed you in Utah! I know trips home are always bonkers! But we will have to catch up sometime. You and your family all look so great! So glad that you blog!
I was just catching up on your blog and saw this post. Congratulations on Eric finishing his dissertation! It is a huge milestone for you both. I am glad you survived. I look back now and wonder how we made it. I would be interested to know what kind of reflux he has. Send me an email - I have some questions for you!
