Beginning the 30's

Eric's 31st birthday came so quickly after Halloween this year (not that it doesn't EVERY year...) that I felt like I didn't really have time to get ready for it. Thank goodness we like to drag out celebrations around here. Though, I think Eric would have felt more special if we had just made one day really fun for him. But we tried to fit a bunch of things in.

The night before the big day we had his birthday dinner at Red Robin. The girls were excited to go to a restaurant again, and it was fun to meet up with Daddy after work. Dinner was great, the kids were both very happy with what they got to order, and Eric got a free birthday sundae!

After attempting to go shopping and getting frustrated with the kids for multiple reasons, we finally headed home with a stop to Culver's for Eric to get his free frozen custard.

On Eric's actual birthday, Jolie and I met up with him at the park for lunch. Even though it was a little chilly, we loved sitting in the sunshine.

Later I was working, so I didn't even make him dinner. But I had made him some toffee blondies as his birthday cake--one of his favorite treats ever. (He and I ended up eating the whole pan! Don't worry, it took us a couple of days. I don't think we even offered any to the kids!) While I was working, Eric was out doing his second good service deed of the day and decided to take the girls with him to get his free Coldstone ice cream.

He let them choose what they wanted, instead of what he wanted. Since I wasn't with them, he told me we'd go out for ice cream, just the two of us, later. We're still waiting for that to happen, but it's always nice to have something to look forward to!

We never had any candles on Eric's "cake," so we sang to him the next evening and finally gave him his birthday gifts. He got an immersion blender, along with a few other things. We've already used it twice!

We love you, Eric. Can't wait until we have another little Eric in our family!

Robyn,
Thanks so much for the wonderful birthday week you put on for me. Getting older doesn't bother me. I appreciate all the time we get to pass together.
