Seven Years Good Luck

I didn't think getting married in August was a bad time at all. In fact, it was the perfect time when we were in college. But now that all our family vacations seem to happen at the end of July through the beginning of August, and we have kids getting ready for school in the middle of August, our anniversary has almost passed us by for the second year in a row. We still haven't really celebrated (it was on Monday). An anniversary celebration to me means that Eric and I go out on a date, just the two of us, and at least go to dinner, or do something even funner. (We're hoping to make it to "Wicked" in the next two weeks; we'll keep our fingers crossed!) But at least we did get out and do something on Monday. After my half-day of teaching, we got ready to hit the road for another visit to Coco Key. They were having a special admission event where if you bring in a school supply, you get in for free. We showed up with our 1 cent notebooks from Staples, along with about 600 other people, and had three hours of fun. Jolie wasn't scared of the slides this time, and went all by herself on the small ones, and the bigger ones! We relaxed a little on the lazy river and enjoyed being together. On the way home Eric wanted to swing by the Velvet Ice Cream Factory in Utica, since it was probably the last chance we'd get to go there before we leave Ohio. When we got to the exit from Newark, it was closed for construction, so we spent the next half-hour on winding country roads trying to make our way toward ice cream. Jolie fell asleep on the way, and when we finally got there at dark, it was closed. Of course. Mierae was just falling asleep as we pulled in, but she woke up when we stopped. We let her get out to see the ducks and walk around for a minute before we just headed home. At least Mierae did fall asleep soon after we got going again, and Eric and I did have some quiet alone time in the van to end the evening.

Here are some highlights from our 7th year:

An adventurous trip home from Washington/Utah summer 2009 (at a reservoir in Kansas)

Going to Chicago in October

Buying our new computer

Thanksgiving in Detroit

Spending Christmas in Ohio with just our little family

Taking a trip to DC in January to see my brother's family

Eric's and my 30th birthdays

Going to a fabulous Columbus Symphony concert

Trip to Mammoth Caves in Kentucky for Spring Break

Trip to Boston in June

Summer Sunday evening walks

Mierae's 5th Birthday (at Sonic)

Fourth of July (Can you tell the kids took this pic? I love it, even though it's blurry.)

Free Chick-fil-A day

Summer visit to Utah (at the Bean Museum)

I love you, Eric! What a fun, busy year we've just had, and what a busy, exciting year this next one is going to be. I'm so glad I have you to share my life with.

Thanks Robyn for all the fun we had this year. I know that this year will have some surprises, but at least you can be prepared for the baby, since we don't know yet where we'll be next year. I love you. Thanks for all the posts, too, even if I do poke fun at you for staying up all night to do them. What a great example of family history work.
