Recent Happenings and Random Thoughts

I love the heart garland idea that I stole from a friend's blog. My window doesn't look half so bad without curtains now. (Photo courtesy of Mierae.)

I fell in love again. All this week I've been watching "North and South." I love that Eric loves it too. When I thought I was crazy for wanting to watch it a third time, I was so glad Eric was the first one to suggest it. :)

I helped host a baby shower at my house for my good friend yesterday. I love that I got my Valentine roses early so I could use them to decorate. It's been wonderful sitting at the table looking at them and being enveloped in fragrance. With all the snow that just fell, I love having something inside my house that's making me feel warm.

How can I have such a great experience at Church alone when my kids are sick at home, being inspired to love my kids more, and then come home to a less than inspirational day of my two-year-old not making it on the toilet once, pinching, yelling, whining, and me fasting and not having the strength and patience to deal with it all? I think the Lord was trying to tell my something....

A dinner of ham, scalloped potatoes, homemade rolls and non-soggy peas has never tasted so good!

Last week Eric and I watched some of "Lord of the Rings" and munched popcorn cuddled under our down comforter in our room. We don't have a TV in our room (we watched the movie on Eric's laptop) so we never get to do that, and it was one of the best date nights we've had in a long time.

Mierae went to her first all-girls no-parents birthday party on Saturday, and she had a great time.

Someone in the tax office at OSU messed up Eric's income amounts from last year, so we don't have a W-2 yet to start on taxes. I really was looking forward to getting them done, but only because we always get money out of it!

Playing in the snow is SO much more fun than driving in it.

This afternoon Mierae was singing a song from Preschool asking the sun to come shine on her. I love hearing her sing. And the sun did shine today.

I have so many projects I need to be working on: quilts, scrapbooks, practicing to accompany my students at their contest next weekend...but all I want to do is cuddle up with Eric and watch a movie.

You know your house is cold when your fingers begin to stiffen as you type and you start to shiver.

We've been listening to a lot of Barbie movie soundtracks this weekend. I'm surprised at how often I have the songs stuck in my head. But another soundtrack we've been listening to lately is "Prince of Egypt." Love it. Those broken chords in the bass and celli on "Deliver Us" always give me the chills.

I sure love Eric. A lot.

My brother and his family just arrived in Finland. I want to visit them so bad. It seems like snowstorms are nothing but magical in Finland. If we move to Europe next year, then I'll be able to find out for myself. I'm just glad we got to go to DC a few weeks ago and see my brother's family before they left. My kids finally got in some cousin time! (We went to Roosevelt Island downtown, Clemyjontri playground in Viriginia (!), the Washington Temple visitor's center, the Dulles Air and Space Museum, and had some great play time at my aunt's house in Maryland.)

What have you been up to?

Wow!! I've not done anything as exciting as you... like always. It seems like you are always traveling and having a ball. I've been stuck inside for a month due to my hand and sick kids. It's no fun! I'm ready for an adventure. You want any visitors? Or maybe just one... ME!! (j/k)

I travel... through your blog! Thank you for taking me along. It's been fun!!!

How do you do it all? You are seriously amazing. Why did your brother move to Finland. You will have to tell me more about that. Are you seriously thinking about moving to Europe? I could totally see you guys there. You would do great.

This is quite collection of randomness! You are welcome to come over here to warm your fingers at our (YOUR) piano. Gwen is taking only 1 nap now a days, so just let me know. I'd be happy to take her over to your house and watch the girls while you have some YOU time over here. Just say the word...

I was SO SAD to miss the baby shower! IT looks so pretty too. I'm glad you got to have a great vacation in DC. We've been once and I loved it there. I'm also glad your brother made it safely to Suomi. If you ever want to greet him, say "Terve" (tare' vay, with a roll on the r) and bye is "hei hei" (hay hay)! Also ask him how he enjoys sauna.
