A Sick Holiday

I haven't gotten around to posting about Halloween because there wasn't much to tell! Mierae got sick, then I got sick, and Jolie got sick. We missed the ward party, which Eric and I were in charge of (so he went solo while the kiddos and I sat at home), and we never made it to the pumpkin patch. Mierae missed a week of school, missing out on a costume parade and the Fall social. So, even though our holiday was rather blah, Eric made killer costumes for the kids to do their 15 minute trick-or-treating!

Jolie cracked me up--when the door opened where they were trick-or-treating, she went right inside looking for the candy!

And of course they went right to town on the candy as soon as we got home!

Trick-or-treating ("Beggar's night") was on the 29th this year, so we thought we'd have more time to celebrate. We didn't last long trick-or-treating because Mierae just didn't have any energy to do it. I got sick that night, and Jolie the next, so we missed trunk-or-treating on Saturday night at the Church. But, at least the girls got one small chance to wear their costumes.

Since we couldn't do anything out of the house, we did some crafts inside. We made witches' hats:

and spiders. (Chocolate-covered marshmallows are sure delish!)

Even though we didn't have much fun with Halloween this year, our house is still chock full of treats! We're looking forward to a much healthier Thanksgiving.

Your family picture on your blog is so cute. I'm sad you all got sick!! But I do have to say that it was appropriate that you stayed home. Our activities person in the ward brought her whole fever stricken family to the ward halloween party and got pretty much the entire ward sick with swine flu. Jon caught it and it's been the pits. So your ward thanks you :)

Love those costumes. So cute. Hope you are all feeling better. It is so hard to be a mom and be sick.

The girls look so much older than they did when we last saw you! I think I say that all the time, but seriously, they look different already!

Could they be any cuter? And the treats you made... seriously the best. I need to log that one away in my brain for next year. I bet they have more fun just being in the house with their cool mom than outside with other people.
