Our Taylor reunion in June was a chance for all of Eric's siblings and their families to be all together for the first time since our wedding! And because I had only met some of his family members only twice, this reunion was something we were all looking forward to. The girls got to meet an uncle and aunt they'd never met, play with cousins they'd only seen once before, become best friends with their grandpa in no time at all, and enjoy three and a half days playing with cousins already loved.
Eric's heritage stems from Capitol Reef National Park where his Grandma Taylor grew up as a Behunin, living in a little cabin that is now part of the national park. It's so neat that we are able to visit such a beautiful place when we go back to our roots. Eric led a hike one morning, explaining some geology of the area. We visited Fruita Park where the tradition of growing and harvesting fruit is still honored. And Mierae learned the joy of red mud.
We gathered in Fremont each night, the town where Eric's dad grew up. The kids played at the park, and parents visited in the church. We also had outdoor swimming, indoor swimming, swimming in our tent one night during a rainstorm, and heard that my mom's house flooded back home!! (That sure wasn't part of the reunion agenda.) All in all, the reunion was a success--maybe because the talent show we had planned never happened...? :) Eric's sister Sarah took a group photo to mark the time when we were all together. I can't wait to see it!

Is that the actual cabin? How cool is that! And what are you doing up so late posting on my blog? You must be a night owl like me! This is the only time I can get some good blogging time in uninterrupted. Your girls are getting so big! How great that they play together so well! They are just beautiful!
I'd like to hear more details on the tent flooding adventure...
sorry about the house flooding though. That stinks. how bad was the damage?
It's so true... I remember those family reunions we used to have. They weren't so much my favorite. That's so cool that all of Eric's family got to be together at the same time! That's so fun.
