Mierae Turns 4

When Eric and I first found out the new dates for the Taylor reunion, I immediately planned a birthday celebration in Utah for Mierae's birthday, a few days before the reunion would start. Mierae had been asking for a Barbie cake for months. I watched a tutorial and thought it couldn't be easier. Upon frosting on top of the crumb coat, the girls needed something to do. What could be a better activity than putting sprinkles on a birthday cake?! Well, it got a little out of hand, and Barbie ended up with blue "fairy dust" on her skirt. It took me a little while, but I got over trying to fulfill the perfectionist in me, and we went with it. Mierae couldn't have been happier.

We had two family "parties." One on Mierae's actual birthday on Sunday, and another Monday evening. We just have to let the birthdays keep on going in this family! Mierae's cousin Joslynn gave her a makeover for her special day, and she certainly looked glamorous for her four-year-old snapshots.

I LOVE the "You are special today" plate, and Eric's mom had it set out, ready for Mierae when we arrived at her house.

Mierae got three Barbies, her very own suitcase, 3-D sidewalk chalk, Polly Pockets, stickers, drawing pads, Dora bubbles, a Dora wand, skirts, and everything girly.

In all the commotion of everyday living, I don't stop to think much about how special my kids are and what I love about them. So, here are four things I love about Mierae:

1. She loves to read stories. She'll have a hard time choosing just four before bed. And she loves hearing the Book of Mormon stories--the ones with blood and carnage are her favorite!

2. She loves to ask questions. While this can get tedious, I love her appetite for learning and her curiosity. (I just don't always like to clean up after her curiosity.)

3. She is a girly girl. Whether she's in her red dress, or wearing a skirt for the third day in a row, she loves to look pretty. And she has to have her time to do her make-up in the morning (or afternoon, or just before bed).

4. She loves to help, especially when it's doing something new. While I nearly always end up stuffing a kitchen towel in my mouth when she helps me "cook," I am so happy when I'm able to teach her something that she learns how to do all by herself.

happy birthday mierae. Deva and I are looking at the pictures you posted. Deva loves to see mierae. she says I would love to see mierae and to love with her presents. Our drive to nauvoo was really good. Deva threw up just as we left columbus but other than that it was uneventful. She gets car sick easily.

Happy birthday, Mirae! She looks GORGEOUS, btw, which was probably weird to see at first, huh? She's going to be a heart breaker when she starts dating.

I love how excited she is about her barbie cake. Good job, blue fairy dust and all.

What is the strangest question she's asked you? Eric used to be a question asker... and I've heard many a tale from my mother-in-law about some of the outlandish things he wanted to know about. You just get creative, right? If you run out of ideas, send em my way. I'll entertain your girls while you have some kitchen or you time. Congrats on raising such amazing kids!

I'm glad you guys will be back in time to enjoy some summer! Let me know if you need any help moving your stuff out of storage and into your new place. We're there. :)

and I use Picasa 3. You download it from the internet for free. It is a pretty nice photo editing application. No Photoshop, but it's free, so I can't complain.

I can't believe you did that barbie cake! It looks complicated! Do you know Lilliana wants a Barbie cake too, and she is only turning 2! How do they know this? (Well, she will only watch Barbie movies. They are like 70 minutes, and she will sit still for the whole thing!) It looks like you are having the best summer ever! I love the family picture!

I got the drawings done at a fundraiser for stacy's retirement center. they were free. It cost to get into the fundraiser. I was excited because the are about 20 bucks a pop at a fair or amusement park. hope you guys are well.
