The End of a Decade

One candle = one more year of my 20s.

That's right. I just turned 29. One more year to live it up before I become an older and wiser 30-year-old. I know it's been said before, but this decade of my life has brought me the most life-changing events: my LDS mission to Donetsk, Ukraine, studying abroad in France, getting married, graduating from college, bearing my first child... I'm sure I'll fully recall and reminisce this decade on my next birthday.

My day was full of fun, and I received so many birthday wishes and expressions of love. Thank you everyone! My day started out with presents in bed, not to be confused with breakfast in bed. :) I think Eric was just too excited to give me the gift he and the girls chose out for me a few days earlier (a box of Bath & Body Works products).

Then, Eric gave me another wonderful gift: he took the girls swimming so I could go shopping alone! I found just what I wanted too, including a pair of boots for $15, a pair of jeans for $12, and a cute shirt on top of that! After our busy morning, we arrived at the Gateway Theater on campus to attend the OUAB-sponsored family showing of "Bolt." We took the girls to see "The Tale of Despereaux" a few weeks ago, and they both sat and watched the ENTIRE time (unlike the time we went to "Wall-E"), so we were confident it would go well. And it did! They were just as enraptured and entertained as on our last theater experience, so we all enjoyed it! After the movie they had a reception. We had caricatures done of both the girls, Mierae got her own "Bolt" made from pink balloons, they colored and crafted, ate "puppy chow" and "dog biscuits" and had a great time!!

I wanted to have a New York Cheesecake for my birthday cake, but Eric and I hadn't really paid attention to the recipe until Saturday morning when we read that the cake had to chill for 8 hours... So, at the last minute, Eric and the girls whipped up a Wacky Cake so I would have something to stick a candle in.

The girls had been practicing weeks earlier so they could help Mommy.

Eric and I made the cheesecake that night, and enjoyed it the night after when the girls were in bed.

Thanks again to everyone who helped me feel so special on my birthday!

Happy Birthday, Robyn! I'm SO sorry we didn't get a chance to call or even write--we're such slackers!! But we DID think about you, and said often, "We need to call Robyn!" Then something would come up or we'd fall asleep... But we love you lots!!!!

I totally thought of you several times on the 28th, but the day got away from me before I could do anything about it. Thoughts count for a little something though, right!?
Happy belated birthday!!
