Odyssey

We just drove my mom's Honda Odyssey from Utah to Ohio, passing the 150K mark and making it to Columbus even though the "Maintenance" and "Check Engine" lights came on. The next day we started the van and got 10 feet before the van suddenly died. We tried again and the van dies after 10 seconds of idle running. Two weeks later we tried it again, and the same thing happened, though it lasted for about a minute. The mechanic got it around the block, but they can't even do a diagnostic on the van since "the computer dies too soon to get any information." Is it because the car is dying or the computer is dying so the car shuts off? Have any of you ever come across the same problem? We would like to lower the possible $1300 repair, but even then we're not sure it fixes the problem.

But . . . I must say that we were very blessed coming to Ohio. The van drove very well and we didn't even hit any snow storms. I KNOW that Heavenly Father blessed us on our trip and brought us all the way to our doorstop before we had to deal with any car issues. So despite being distressed by a faulty van, we know we have to give gratitude for our blessings!
