It's That Time of Year

When Mierae was one, we took her strawberry picking at a farm just outside Columbus. We wanted to keep her out of the mud, so she sat in the backpack while Eric and I did the work. Last weekend we decided to take the kids on our very first raspberry-picking trip. Mierae couldn't have been happier to have the whole farm to explore.

The girls decided to dig right in and pick as many berries as they could.

Jolie got a little too close, though, and got some pretty long scratches on her arm. We forgot about occupational hazards!

Mierae's favorite thing was playing inbetween in rows of berry bushes. Wasn't it a gorgeous day?

When we got home, we went right to work on our raspberry freezer jam. We love making freezer jam, and it's so much easier than doing the water bath canning.

And who can resist cheesecake with raspberries? We just HAD to make this special treat to enjoy the fresh berries.

And in a matter of weeks, we're on to apple picking. We can't wait!

The best strawberries I ever had were from a farm in Columbus. When we got to Florida we were SO bummed there wasn't even a place we could pick our own pumpkins! PLEASE enjoy them for us, too! And get some of that apple cider. So good!

You are always out and about doing fun things and teaching your girls about hard (fun) work. I can't wait to see pictures of your apple picking. You are so creative in your activities you do with your family. Way to be a great example to us all!!
