Blizzard of 2008

I had heard on the news last Thursday that it was going to snow starting Friday and we were expected to get 5-10 inches overnight. Saturday morning when we woke up and looked outside, we couldn't believe so much snow had accumulated! We haven't seen so much snowfall in years, even when we were living in Utah. The news said we actually got a total of 20 inches of snow!! Here is the front page of the Sunday Columbus Dispatch.

Eric wanted to take Mierae to check out how deep the snow really was. Here they are all prepped for going out in the blizzard.

I wouldn't let Jolie go outside because of her runny nose. So, she tried to touch the snow through the windows.

Mierae was lucky there were a few spots she could actually walk in!

When they checked out the spot next to the little stream of our apartment complex, they saw some familiar people.

So, we had two red-cheeked little girls come in for hot chocolate, when they had played enough and gotten wet enough to need to come inside.

Since we were snowed in, we hung out with Chris, Shellee and Deva for most of the afternoon. The girls made their own fun.

After trying on all the 0-3 month clothes, they actually found some 3T dresses that they discovered worked a lot better.

We got a call just before dinnertime with the message that Church was cancelled! I don't think we would have made it out to get to Church even if they hadn't cancelled, though. It was getting a little harder to find things to keep us busy and entertained as we spent another day stuck in the house. Mierae was getting a little bored of it all.

But we read lots of stories, did puzzles, made forts, baked bread and cookies, played with toys, took naps, and played in car seats (we got out Jolie's new car seat and Mierae played in Jolie's infant carseat). :)

My sister called from Cincinnati saying they were snowed in as well, and their Church was cancelled too! It was kind of fun to be snowed in together, even though we're almost two hours away from each other. She also reminded me about Daylight Savings. Ooops! We forgot! Good thing we didn't need to be anywhere. Jolie didn't nap as long as usual in the afternoon, so I put her to bed at 7:00 pm, thinking she'd take another nap and go to bed later on. But she stayed asleep and slept until 11:00 am this morning, only waking up a few times to nurse!!!! WOW. I guess she's been really sleep deprived lately and was finally trying to catch up! Hopefully we'll be able to get back on some sort of schedule soon! It was a fun weekend, though. It was nice to have Eric home all day long for two days! And today I didn't teach flute lessons because school was cancelled. What a vacation! But with the beautiful sunshine today, I think March's lion will be turning into a lamb very soon.

Wow, you got a ton of snow! I hope we are done with snow for a while (I can't believe that we can actually see our lawn again), but you never know... Can't wait to see you next week!

Wow!! And here we thought it was the storm of 2008 with a very small amount of about 1 -2 inches of snow. Everyone was outside trying to play in it!! Schools were closed and Tyler came home early from work. Crazy!! It looks like a lot of fun to play in though!!! Thanks for sharing the pictures.
